Bukara is a unique dark black and chocolate and red German-bred, Long Coat German Shepherd.  In Germany she might be known as a Long Haired German Shepherd. 

She has a deep dark, black pigmentation that is well-known in the West German lines.  She has rich, red coloring, yet her black is more ‘dominant’ on her body.  Her black and red is intermingled with a chocolate ‘hue’. 

Bukara was bred by a very well-known and respected Long Coat breeder in Germany, Dagmar Andersen of Haus Barrett.  Bukara is out of a one and long-time superior German Working lines, with famous working lines in her pedigree.  
 

As true to her German Shepherd heritage, Bukara is a powerhouse German Shepherd.  She is everything you read about in the German Shepherd standard of long ago!   

Bukara is sound, strong, loyal and ‘focused’ for work.   She knows what she wants and she works until she gets it.  She doesn’t settle for mediocre.  Just attentive and driven!   She has the ability and versatility to fetch, track, search, play or follow a stream of water to the end of the earth! 

Although, I only breed my dogs to be Ultimate Family Companions, Bukara has the ability and versatility to be a Herding or ScH trained dog, as her heritage is so famously known.   Her mother and father are both ScH titled.  Yet, at the end of the day, Bukara’s greatest love is to JUST be lying by your side.  She’s as calm as a fallen snow inside my home!  And, she thrives on human interaction and contact.  Always, 'intune' with your movement.

 
Bukara is like a typical German Shepherd - LOYAL!  She will follow me around the yard while I mow in 100 degree weather until finished if that is what the job entails!  She will find my keys if they are lost and I tell her to ‘find it’.  She watches my every move! 

She has a HIGH “PLAY” DRIVE!  She LOVES to play ball! 

In the training ring, however, Bukara can get very bored with on-going repetition or ‘repeat’ tasks asked by trainers who don’t spice up the training, or while waiting on others to ‘catch up’! 

She is NOT hyper, is not destructive, seldom barks, is non-aggressive, loves people, is ‘motherly’ to the new babies, and just plain thinks before her EVERY move!  She has a fantastic ‘memory’.  Once she learns something in our day, she keeps it programmed!  She 'remembers' words very quickly!  You can see her thinking! She is not a kennel dog and don’t do well away from your side.  If you move, she’s in step with you!  When you sit, she’s laying down.  She is an ULTIMATE COMPANION!

 
I have never owned a Long Haired German Shepherd or Long Coated German Shepherd with the unique abilities and desires as Bukara.  She runs like a deer, spins like a top, jumps like a rabbit, and turns on a dime.  She’s been chasing my red scarf since she’s been 9 weeks old with a focus like no other.  If I put a ball in my pocket, she will sit and stare at my pocket or hand for the entire time she can watch me, or until I give her the 'toy'. 

She would follow me through burning coal if I asked her to.  She’s got a heart of gold and a nerve of steel.  She attempts anything I ask her to do.  She’s never been afraid of the riding lawn mower even at 10 weeks of age.  While I would have to coax others to it with a leash and treats, Bukara would come right up to it and attempt to clime on it with me!  

 
Bukara is as level-headed and sound.  It takes a LOT to set her off.  Although, she has a high play drive, she is peaceful, calm and holds a nerve of steel under pressure.  She will sit right by my side as I shoot off my hand gun!

Bukara has a fantastic temperament and doesn’t show outward aggression towards other dogs.  Of course, if she's provoked, she won't be bullied!  I’ve had dogs attempt to get in her face and push her around and she’s very tolerant.  She takes a lot before going over the edge!  She’s eaten in a group, and when any has gotten grumpy, she just walks away.  The only thing she doesn’t share is her toys!  She fights to get them in the game of fetch, which she is VERY good at winning, and she keeps them once she gets them!  She enjoys to have THEM chase HER!

 
Bukara has a long, flat back. 

Her noticeable attributes are a large, square head with solid bone structure. 

Her headset is perfect, with short erect ears, proportionate to her skull. 

Her expression is intelligent!  Her ears are ideally parallel to each other. 

Her temperament is superior and her versatility supreme! 

Her pedigree is excellent! 

Her eyes are forever intelligent, always watchful. 

She LOVES to chase water, her toys and play - anything work related! 

Her average weight at two years is mid 70’s.  She is not big in size, but what she has in breeding makes up for it ten-fold!  She was not bred for size, nor was her size considered as ANY factor in using her for our breeding program!  Her intelligence, loyalty and abilities outweigh most you’ll find!
