For those of you who don't come to our home to visit, it will even show you what we look like, - since people often wonder!!  :)  And, hopefully a little of the grounds that our long haired dogs roam - as we try to capture some of the beauty in our pages.  Yes, there is SOME beauty in Iowa!  Not just cows and corn!  But yes, lots of cows and corn! 

 

This page is also a dedication to my dear husband, who without his kindness and understanding (mostly 'overlooking') of my passion for my Long Coated German Shepherd dogs there would be no dogs!  I'm always bragging on my German Shepherds and forgetting that my hardworking husband (who already has a 12 hour a day job),  contributes a ton of labor!   He even takes all my pictures of my 'breathtaking' Long Haired German Shepherd beauties!  Photography is his passion.  All and all, he never, ever complains about the work, the expense or the donations they support, regardless of the challenge!  
 

I'm forever grateful that my husband has supported my need to 'dump' my 20 + years of Corporate work to fulfill a dream to devote 'full-time' to raising my Ultimate Long Haired German Shepherd kids!   I am not a large breeder, but the work is significant!  To share them with you takes a lot of time. I was once a Director managing people at a Fortune 500 Company.  I also spent a number of years as a Licensed Realtor.

I've been in a dog breeding home for over 45 years!  Now, I work solely for my Long Coat German Shepherd dogs!  Yes, the standard coats too!

No job or interest in my life has ever been more important to me than what I do today with my dogs.  My husband is my soul mate. My dogs are my life, my reason for waking up every day. 

When you buy a Long Coated German Shepherd puppy from Vom Haus Dettmer, you will be getting a very special puppy.  It's raised in our very own home and with the best care provided to ensure the proper 'start' that any one puppy needs prior to sending it on its way into the great new world.

We do it the best way we know how, with ongoing education, careful, well-thought-out breeding goals, while we continually assess our lines and make the necessary adjustments as we watch our progeny grow.  We think this is the 'right way' to run a breeding program or kennel.  Regardless, if you are breeding one dog or 100!

Long Coat German Shepherds are not for all people, as any one breed is not best 'suited' for any home, person or environment.  Our dogs are large, desire human interaction and require space for exercise!   This breed is not a good 'statue' for you to tie in the back yard!  PLEASE do your research about this active, loyal and intelligent breed BEFORE committing to buy one. 

Dogs SHOULD NOT be disposable and unfortunately, our Humane Societies are already overcrowded!
